About this concert
Rastak, a new ensemble for contemporary Persian folk music was formed as an experimental music group in 1997. The group seeks to collect, record and interpret traditional Persian folk music for a global audience, incorporating language, culture and history also merging traditional instruments and forms with contemporary rhythms.The musicians who comprise Rastak have graduated from the best universities in Iran and have done extensive research into Persian folk music. Rastak’s released albums include: 1- Rangvarehaye Kohan ( Audio, 2007). 2- Hameye Aghvame Man ( Video, 2010). 3- Sornaye Norouz ( Video, 2013). 4- Miane  Khorshidhaye Hamisheh Rastak has given many concerts in Iran, England, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Sweden, The USA, Canada, Australia, India, Japan, Malasya, Chile, Poland,Turkey, Georgia, Belgium, Oman, Belarus, The  UAE etc. - Siroos Sepehri (Band Leader and Director, Tar Player) - Farzad Moradi (Vocalist, Dotar, Setar, Qopuz etc.)  - Behzad Moradi (Vocalist, Daf and other Percussion inst.) - Akbar Esmaeilipour (Tar and Oud) - Yavar Ahmadifar ( Daf and other Percussion inst.) - Saba Jamali (Qanoon) - Omid Mostafavi (Tombak and other Percussion inst.) -Dina Doosti (Kamancheh, Qeychak) -Farzad Khorshidsavar ( Daf and other Percussion inst.) -Hamed Boland Hemmat ( Ney Anbun, Sorna and other Wind inst.) -Sepehr Saadati (Double Bass)

Rastak Biography

Rastak is a well-known band in Iranian contemporary folk music that was formed as an experimental music group in 1997. The group seeks to collect, record and interpret Persian folk music for a global audience. Rastak incorporates language, culture and history as well as merge traditional instruments and forms with contemporary rhythms. Rastak Music Group has done extensive research into Persian folk music both academically and in practice.
For the past two decades Rastak has been focused on the sound of Iranian folklore and diverse cultures; resulting in five albums, five singles and numerous domestic and overseas concert tours.
