God's Gurls Biography
God's Gurls (GG) was developed in the late fall of 2007 under the wisdom and guidance of Bishop Alfred T. Lands of Family Life MBC, Fayetteville, GA. He saw the gift of art and music in several individuals, but out of everyone, four ladies decided to commit to their musical talents. This led to embarking on a new journey of cultivating their music and artistry to be used by God.
God's Gurls is made up of four women who sing, dance, and play instruments: Trulyse Lands (bass guitar), Connie Brown (Keys), Shakiera Brooks (Congos) & Trunae Green (lead guitar). However, GG is backed by a full band, including a dynamic horn section known as "the Horns."
God's Gurls is unique because it consists of intelligent and successful women who enjoy using their musical gifts to glorify Christ. GG's musical style infuses jazz, Christian, R&B, and Gospel. God's Gurls are based out of Atlanta, Georgia. They released their debut, self-titled album in 2012.
GG has been blessed with incredible opportunities to share music for well-known figures in major venues and share stages alongside award-winning artists. This includes but is not limited to Grammy-nominated Doc McKenzie & the Mighty Clouds of Joy, Micah Stampley, Earnest Pugh, the Anointed Pace Sisters, Dottie Peoples, & more. They have also been blessed to perform at the Four Pillar Awards Tribute to Arthur M. Blank (ATL Falcons owner), the Life Link Organization, Gospel on the Green, and even overseas onboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise ship "Oasis of the Seas."
Additional highlights include performing at The Cobb Galleria Center, Center Stage, Georgia State University, Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral, and Praise In the Park 2017 by Praise 102.5 (Atlanta, GA). They most recently headlined the 2021 Tree Lighting Gospel Concert hosted by Praise 102.5 as an opening artist for Pastor Marvin Sapp!
When GG is not performing, you can find them running businesses, working full-time, and investing in their education. These ladies have already earned bachelor's & master's degrees from Georgia State, Spelman, and Lasell University. And they are currently pursuing additional degrees, including master's and doctoral degrees! Their career fields cover Engineering, Education, Criminal Justice, and Organizational Leadership.
However, these ladies ultimately have one primary desire; to please God through music by spreading the message of salvation, purity, praise, and authenticity. GG believes anyone can go after their dreams and have whatever they desire by keeping God number one and allowing Him to lead the way (Matt. 6:33).
