Christopher Hunnicutt BassGuitar Biography

Christopher Hunnicutt is a bassist, singer/songwriter, guitarist, and pianist in the Denver area with profound experience in performance, recording, teaching & music business/marketing.

His collegiate experience began at the tender age of sixteen, a mere two years after his introduction to the electric bass, with his acceptance to the 2001 Summer Program at the Berklee College Of Music in Boston, where Christopher would focus on jazz composition & music theory. He then attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis, where he chased his Bachelor of the Arts in Electric Bass Performance (2007) under the guidance of local legends Anthony Cox & Terry Burns. During his tenure at Augsburg, Christopher was exposed to a plethora of different aspects of study such as extensive music theory training, jazz/classical studies, composition, music history, and the innate intricacies of music business. In addition to this, he was also a long-standing member of the Augsburg College Jazz/Gospel Praise Band & Augsburg Choir, as well as a private music theory tutor to an innumerable amount of students and primary creator of the jazz improvisation classes & electric bass program that are still currently in use.

Christopher Hunnicutt's diversity as a musician is a testament to his viability & inherent notoriety, with his musical roots being found in funk, soul, rhythm & blues, jazz fusion, rock, reggae & hip-hop, one might be surprised that he has also been a vital part of country, blues, metal & progressive rock conglomerates as a bassist, guitarist, vocalist & pianist. It is this versatility that has led him to accolades like becoming a two-time recipient of both the Louis Armstrong & Woody Herman Jazz Awards (2002-2003) & Best Young Bassist In The Twin Cities (TC Pulse 2005-2006), and has allowed him to share the stage with such world-renowned artists as Branford Marsalis, Sheila Raye Charles, The Black Eyed Peas, House Of Pain, Marvin "Hannibal" Peterson, Ramsey Lewis (Earth, Wind & Fire) Cee-Lo Green (Gnarls Barkley), Randall Bramblett, Earl "Wire" Lindo (The Wailers), The Rembrandts, and The Vocal Essence Singers, as well as such local legends as Michael Bland (Prince & The New Power Generation), Morris Day & The Time, Atmosphere, Heiruspecs, Dave King, Bill Franze, Mayda Miller, Johannes Tona, Jonny Lang, Stanley Kipper, Bruce Jackson, Gordy Knutson, Adam Dietch (John Scofield/Break Science) Kevin Washington, and many more.
