Frailty

Frailty is among the few successful metal bands that have emerged from the post-Soviet Baltic state Latvia. Formed in 2003, the band fought its way up the ranks of the Latvian metal underground scene, eventually becoming one of the most recognizable musical entities of Latvian metal scene . In 2008, the band signed a record deal with Russian Doom Metal label Solitude Productions and released their first album, Lost Lifeless Lights. Despite being bands first effort, the album got stunning reviews all across the world’s underground metal community. In the following year 2009, Frailty made self-released nameless EP. This record brought the band the first ever Latvian Metal Music Awards for the Best Album and Best Band 2009. This has been the highest point in Frailty’s career so far. The band spent entire year 2010 and the most part of 2011, writing new songs for the second full length album. The recording process started in November, 2011. The deal was made with the Ukrainian Doom Metal label ARX Productions, and the album’s release was released in February, 2012. The band decided to entitle the album Melpomene in honour of the ancient Greek Muse of Tragedy. Melpomene is available via http://frailtymetal.bandcamp.com , also as legal download. One of Frailty’s main goals is to create crushing and memorable live performances – massive and bleak walls of sound from guitars, dark atmospheres from keyboards, crushing drums, bulldozing bass and deep growling vocals sometimes supported by sorrowful and sick cleans. The stage experience so far is formidable – Frailty acted as support band for Novembre in Vilnius and for Skepticism in Moscow. Frailty’s first album’s presentation was done on Moscow Doom Festival III together with Esoteric, Worship, Comatose Vigil, and Mournful Gust. The band got headline show on The Shadows Doom Festival in Moscow, as well – shared the stage with Dark Tranquillity, Tiamat, Samael, Sepultura, Sinister, Mournful Congregation, Longing for Dawn, Mourning Beloveth, Dark The Suns, Depressed Mode, Soundarcade and many others on local and foreign concerts and festivals. Their next goal is to conquer the European metal scene.
