Votta Biography
DJ and producer born in Belgium in 1978, VoTTa discovered the acid house and the new beat in 1990. He is inspired by diverse experiences in clubbing and rave underground to start his career as dj there are now more than 25 years.
At 13 years old with a hifi double cassette and cd, he starts recording, cutting and pasting various sounds to create his own music. A dedicated follower of the ever-evolving Belgian and international electronic music scene, VoTTa started collecting vinyls and mixing House and Techno music in 1992. Since then, he has made a point of actively looking to sharpen and refine his style by always keeping an ear out for new sounds, in order to continue to harness the unique musical energy for which he is known.
Driven by a fierce passion for the craft, VoTTa mixes his sounds with limitless creativity, combining dynamic grooves with generous bass, hypnotic sounds and aggressive tones. The adaptability of this distinct, eclectic style – which employs a range of sounds from the vast spectrum of his music knowledge – is how he got noticed, and how he has carved his niche in the ever-evolving music industry. It is his declaration that music is his way of life and he wants to share it with others. VoTTa has had many opportunities to express his growing passion for electronic music in various clubs and festivals in Europe. Constantly in search of new sounds, beats, and grooves, VoTTa has always felt the urge to travel the world, discover different places, and share his passion.
In 2013, he decided to go for it and chase his dream. After leaving Belgium, he performed in venues across Goa, Chile, Peru, Indonesia, and Asia, until stumbling across a pocket of idyllic musical paradise on the island of Koh Phangan, Thailand, where he at last chose to stay. He is invited to play at most of the venues on the island and is recognized and appreciated on the local music scene (he is currently a resident DJ at the popular Jungle Experience).
VoTTa has performed with iconic artists such as Cuartero, Mendo, Ron Costa, Pierre (fuse), Anthony Attalla, Philip Bader, M.A.N.D.Y , Michel Cleis and Rick Maya and many more.
In addition to playing shows, VoTTa also focuses on producing his own music in studio. He is inspired to create music that reflects his character, in accordance with his musical world. VoTTa has since produced 2 EPs: “Transition” and “Curious”, under the Souled Records label. His “Transition” EP made it to number 10 on the Juno download Tech House chart.
