Sara Decker Biography
Award-winning jazz singer and composer Sara Decker (NRW Artist Grant 2019, Academy Band Montreux Jazz Festival 2018, Montreux Jazz Voice competition 2017, European Jazz Award 2015) presents the release tour of her second album 'poetryfied' with her new Cologne- based quartet in autumn 2020. ,poetryfied' is released 4th of September 2020 on Acoustic Motion Records.
The album ‚poetryfied‘ : Rilke goes Jazz features her original music to german poems off R. M. Rilke and Emily Dickenson. You can listen to Sara’s lyrical, fragile and energetic original compositions, which reinterpret classical poems like "Der Panther" (R.M.Rilke, 1902), "I measure every grief I meet" (Emily Dickenson, 1830-1886) or „Für Einen" (Mascha Kaleko 1956) and embed them in a modern, musical context. The thematic core of the CD is formed by the settings of Rainer Maria Rilke's timeless poetry. The musicians are all currently coming up in the European Jazz scene. The pianist on this album is talented Billy Test who currently holds the piano chair at WDR Bigband. On bass and drums you can enjoy listening to Nicolai Amrehn and Jeroen Truyen. Other tracks feature soli by german trumpet player Heidi Bayer and tenor player Stefan Karl Schmid.
