About this concert
1. Dirgahayu (Kuala Lumpur) From the ashes of Akta Angkasa and Custom Daisy, Dirgahayu first emerged in July 2013 as an instrumental trio based in Kuala Lumpur. This initial line-up had Wan Azry on bass, Afifi Rahim on guitar and Zulhezan on drums. The band first came to prominence with the release of their single 'Bahawasa-nya' – a 4-minute of organised chaos, robust guitar attack and exuberant drumming punctuated by intense, abrupt transitions. This sonic attack was beautifully captured in the music video – a staccato-like rhythm of stop-motion filming from a god’s-eye view, which helped the band garner compelling positive reviews from all over the region. Subsequently roping in Seikan Sawaki in April 2014 for drumming duties and Zulhezan moving back to guitar, Dirgahayu continues their journey to push any musical possibilities and dedicated sound, this time around as a complete quartet. Since 2015, they've extensively toured several Asian countries e.g. Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, and of course throughout their own homeland, Malaysia. However in mid 2016, Seikan decided to pursue his career in Japan and leave the band back to the original formation as a trio. http://facebook.com/drghyorg http://drghy.bandcamp.com/ 2. mutesite (Kuala Lumpur) Conceived in August 2014, mutesite was formed to tell stories through the cracks of instrumental music. Their debut EP, "re:start" was released on 16 January 2016. Shortly after, their music has garnered local and international attention. "re:start" is now sold in the US via Chautauqua Records, and in Japan via Parabolica Records. Having no lyrical interpretation, the band's performances are nothing short from stellar. They have been featured in popular web platforms such as The Wknd Sessions, Big A Jamz and RedBull Music. Some of the notable festivals they have played includes Good Vibes Festival, Rocking The Region, Sime Darby Art Festival, and DongTaiDu Music Festival. "re:start" was rated as one of Malaysia's top sellers on Bandcamp in 2016. To top the cake, a worldwide pole voted them as Post-rock Listeners' Choice: The 10 Best New Acts Of 2016. http://facebook.com/mutesite/ http://mutesite.bandcamp.com/ 3. Permanence (Singapore) PERMANENCE is comprised of sibling duo Irfan Ramli and Hydhir Ramli. The band attains a sound that blends jarring textures, odd-time signatures with elements of post-rock, embellishing a layer of emotions to the common themes of the human condition and the infinite. The name was taken off their relation since birth.
