Leah Grams Johnson Biography

Leah Grams Johnson is an artist and songwriter, hailing from the rugged coast of Northern California. With a distinct timbre akin to the untamable spirit of the American West, Leah’s authentic take on Folk and Country music has resonated with fans of all musical backgrounds nationwide. Raised on the voices of strong impassioned women like Emmylou Harris and Joni Mitchell, Leah discovered at a young age the magic of music and power of a well-written song. She is an alumna of both the Berklee College of Music and the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, and has been a finalist in numerous songwriting contests.

Leah’s debut EP, titled "Jaroso", is a six song chronological journey of heritage and healing. Recorded in a vacant adobe church on the border of Colorado and New Mexico— this truly intimate body of work is as stark and timeless as the plains where it was composed. “The creation of this project was so much more than the songs alone. It was the mountains, the wind, and the creak of the piano bench. We surrendered to it all in the process.” From the wild love story of her nomadic parents, to the winding path of becoming a woman as a motherless daughter, Leah soothes the collective heart of life with her songs.

Like those who came before her she so deeply admires, Leah is a woman of heart and mind. She is her own breed of cowgirl mystic, living on gut feelings, with an unshakeable love for the world.
