Kuma Biography

A pioneer on Malaysia's music scene and a true globetrotter, the DJ/Producer KUMA is a versatile artist and the almost 20 years of DJing are a true testament to his talent of keeping the crowds far and wide buzzing. His music tastes span from disco to techno and his predilection to afterparty sounds has made him one of the most sought after Malaysian DJs with Ibiza and Berlin as well as the notorious Jungle Experience party in Koh Phangan becoming now his favorite playgrounds when he is performing outside of his homeland. His new radio shows- Revolution Black on Frisky Radio as well as his Ibiza Radio 1 show are doing the rounds at the moment and they are brimming with fresh music that he carefully picks
The prime of his career began as early as 2003 ,marked by dance music, a distinctive era that played a considerable role in honing his skills and reputation. KUMA has since then established himself at the forefront of the global HOUSE & TECHNO movement. His ability to create a vortex in a room instead of a void has earned him some bragging gigs at some of the most reputed residencies, clubs and large-scale festivals around the world. Over recent years, he has been widely associated with iconic trademarks including ‘ZOUK’, ‘Ibiza’ and European Music Festivals.
KUMA made his debut on the world stage of electronic dance music by being the first Malaysian DJ to perform at the Ibiza’s Club –‘Eden’, ‘HUSH’, ‘Es Paradis, Es Vive’,‘Kanya’ and Ibiza’s biggest boat party for Radio 1 Ibiza. It goes without saying, he has since been returning to perform on the island year in, year out. Over recent years ,some of Kuma’s notable showcases include Berlin's Sisyphos, ‘Sugar’ in Australia, ‘Womb’ in Tokyo, ‘Pacha’ in Macau, 'Cafe del Mar' in Ibiza, plus appearances at ‘ADE’ in Amsterdam, club nights around the french region Corsica and Marseille
What’s more, KUMA makes regular comebacks at ‘Jungle Experience Festival’ in Thailand, every quarterly throughout the year in a massive open air party that spellbinds 5-8 thousand party-goers monthly. Needless to say, leading the scene, Kuma was the first Malaysian DJ booked to play the world’s famous ‘Kazantip’ the hype of Asia’s Underground Festival, that was due to debut in Cambodia but then moved to Vietnam as ‘EPIZODE’.KUMA was the pioneer international act booked in Yangon, Myanmar for their ‘Rumours’ nights, which we can now claim as one of the main persons who influenced their underground electronic music scene that has been growing unwaveringly. A groundbreaker in the arena, he was offered a 3 months residency in Zouk-Asia’s largest super club for their underground House & Techno nights – ‘Revolution’.
With an unshakeable monthly international gigs, touring around South East Asia and regular weekend gigs in his city, KUMA also juggles between having 2 of his own radio shows on Ibiza Radio 1 which is based in Ibiza, Spain and Frisky Radio broadcasts from New York where his sets are heard globally , weekly and monthly.
On a producers note, KUMA has been releasing his own productions with several international independent labels and continues to release as much as he can mainly in the form of music that he adores, loves, and prioritises which is TECHNO
