J.D Kelleher LGBT activist/figurehead troubadour with ballsy band and a Bryan Ferry like lilt to his voice,debut single, 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' topped the Irish charts. What that one? Yes that onehas since released other excellent sides, such as the recent and very fabulous 'Avenge The Maybes'..'Imagery' reached no. 2 in the Irish Rock Chart last year JD is also an actor, who is known for his roles as Willie Pearse in TV mini-series 1916 The Forgotten Seven and Breandán Mac Gearailt in Irish soap Ros na Rún. The Sexton Blakes- 4 piece made up of 2 civillians and 2 ex-detectives, hence the name.Nifty female fronted rock with a bit of a post-punk feel at times, originals and covers too. The Long Mynd- embracing a bit of Teenage Fanclub/Big Star pop du power and embellishing it with overdriven Dinosaur Jr-ness and a modicum of the psych rock suggested in the name. Calico- Banshees, The kills and other female fronted punk/rock bands are the inspiration here and it works really well, with a tad of Cocteaus and a folkier nigh on shoegaze vibe.
