Jean Watson Biography

A classically trained singer and violinist, Jean Watson delved into the Christian recording world as a singer/songwriter in 2003. Since that time, her voice and testimony of God's grace and healing have touched thousands of lives around the world. The power of Jean's message comes out of her unique ability to minister and perform with a balance of musical excellence and childlike transparency. God uses Jean to break barriers of the heart through her willingness to share the story of her own weakness and healing. Hearing Jean sing and speak brings an infusion of faith in the love and power of God. Her passion for God is absolutely contagious! Jean's passion for God is joined by a deep compassion for people. Through her own brokenness, she has a compassion for the hurting which draws people to her. It is not uncommon for a concert to close with people lining up for prayer, which is the heart of Jean’s ministry. It is this love - this childlike belief that even small things can change the world - that drives Jean. Her purpose is to share faith and hope with as many as possible, using all her gifts to breathe hope to the hurting. It is Jean's heart to give away as much of her proceeds as possible to charities around the world. The power of Jean’s message in no way overshadows the beauty and excellence of her music, however. Trained as a classical musician, Jean shares her heart through music that is truly a genre all its own. Through a love of music that transcends style, her sound is eclectic and unique with strong classical and folk influences. A consummate singer, songwriter, arranger, and violinist, Jean insists on excellence in everything she does. The beauty of her music is matched only by the beauty of the message of God’s love that it carries. Jean maintains a full concert schedule in the US, Ireland, and the UK where she was named "Female Praise and Worship Artist USA" by the UK New Christian Music Alliance in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. She also has committed much of her ministry time to "the least of these" by regularly visiting prisons, jails, and homeless shelters. Jean's voice and ministry is now heard worldwide on UCB Radio Ireland where she hosts a daily inspirational radio show. When she is not traveling or recording, Jean enjoys playing in the Kalamazoo Symphony, riding her horse, and spending time with her four children. Singer, violinist, speaker, contemporary psalmist, worshiper
