DJ Good Grief Biography
Biography
When Dirty South rap twerked its way onto pop radars in the late ‘90s, it sounded like rap on a mix of soda and codeine. But one of its Houston djs on the scene had already paved his way thru the cityscape of hip hop, house and party sounds and established himself on the decks as a true “waxaholic”.
DJ Good Grief is a veteran on the decks, but keeps things moving ahead whether he’s playing a digital or allvinyl set. You’ll likely find him at some of his residencies like Carrington’s Houston layin down a classic mix, at the uptown Galleria spot LivingRoom turning it up or at Double Cross Lounge in midtown for his popular all vinyl night for hip hop connoisseurs called Waxaholics.
His appeal has caught the attention of not only locals but also heavy hitters. Grief has performed at Def Jam's Scarface "The Fix" album Release in 2002, Red Bull Emsee alongside Bun B and 9th Wonder in 2010, and more recently at Jack Daniels Art Beats & Lyrics Tour in 2012.
This disc jock reps the South, digs deep, is proficient in asswhoopin on the decks, and what’s this we hear each time he steps up to play? He’ll have you hollerin' along with Charlie Brown, “Oh, Good Grief”!
