The Hot Moms Biography

In the summer of 2012, with no definitive plan, Chicago songwriter Drew Stephens (Guitar and Vocals) set out to form a badass band. After hearing some of Drew’s early demos, childhood friend, Paul Wierdak (Producer/Keys) joined the ranks and quickly summoned local dab king Jamie Bowler (Bass) to fill out the sub frequencies. Meanwhile, Jordan Teague (Drums), with boyish good looks, surfaced from the depths of the internet drinking Duvel out of Buddy Rich’s skull to claim his seat behind the skins. The whole deal was solidified over a bucket of Alaskan Snow Crab Legs—the Hot Moms were born and the rest is history. The quartet crams tight rhythms and spooky organs with shared vocals into sweet and briny, three-minute hits. Together, they sound like a 50s doo-wop group on speed. When it comes to musical inspiration, Stephens claims the band is “heavily influenced by the celestial tides.” Their 2015 debut “Temptress,” independently charted on the CMJ, and was soon followed by sync licensing contracts with MTV, NASCAR, and Fox Sports among others. The record showcases the band as a vintage rock group, steeped in Americana. In the winter of 2016, Hot Moms began work on their follow-up EP, “Coconut Milk.” Honing a new sound dubbed “Lobster RocK,” the departure aligns the group with surf, psyche and punk subgenres. “We wanted to keep it simple. Make the hits and meet the chicks,” muses Stephens jokingly. Known for their chaotic and charged live performances, The Hot Moms have shared stages with The Walters, Post Animal, Ron Gallo, Modern Vices, Twinsmith, Yoko and the Oh Nos, and many others. Keep you eyes peeled for more to come. Cassettes of “Coconut Milk” hit shelves in Chicago and Los Angles, available worldwide online, this fall on Wiener Records—a subsidiary of California based Burger Records. The Hot Moms are a psychedelic ocean fairing punk rock and roll band.
