ESPACE JAMES CHAMBAUD
If the three members of Balkan Beat Box were asked to describe their sound, we would probably have three different answers. They firmly maintain the will not to be put in a box. They also proudly claim influences of equal value from all over the world. It's not just a mash-up, it's music made by the citizens of a global culture! Originally from New York and Tel Aviv, Balkan Beat Box (aka BBB) mixes Balkan brass, earthy bass and hip-hop with electronic effects from the dub. Their concerts are explosive, the singer Tomer Yosef there delivering his texts, sometimes political, with passion and energy. The result is a sound assault which makes no quarter and no surrender possible. On each of his albums, the band explored new territories: the Balkan and Mediterranean diaspora - with Balkan Beat Box in 2005 and Nu Med in 2007 - the Far East, with Blue Eyed Black Boy in 2010, and have transported us with their hybrid electronic ragga of Give in 2012. They have just released their latest album in 2016: Shout it out. A great opportunity to see them on stage!
