De getalenteerde Susana Raya studeerde jazz gitaar aan het Amsterdams conservatorium. Ze begon met klassiek gitaar en gaande weg kreeg haar voorliefde voor de jazz de overhand. Nog altijd combineert ze die twee disciplines om zo tot een eigen geluid te komen. Susana zingt ook nog eens voortreffelijk en voegt daarmee een nieuwe dimensie toe aan haar creativiteit. Ze is dus nu eigenlijk een singer songwriter geworden. Ze schrijft al nummers sinds haar tienerjaren. Ze wordt weleens vergeleken met Norah Jones en Eva Cassisy. Namen die tot de verbeelding spreken. Door haar Spaanse afkomst krijgt het geheel weer een exotisch klankbeeld dat zeer past bij de ingetogen muziek die Susana brengt. Ze deelde het podium al met grootheden als Jan Akkerman en ze maakte een Cd getiteld Wind Rose met de bekende gitarist Leonardo Amuedo. Organisator Frank Ong-Alok is dan ook trots deze muzikale dame aan het publiek in Zutphen en omgeving te presenteren. De avond is in het Atrium aan de Marinetsingel 19 te Zutphen. She has developed a unique style where voice and guitar seem to breath at the same time. Susana grew up playing classical guitar but after that she felt attracted to jazz and improvised music, coming to Amsterdam to finish her studies in jazz guitar at the Conservatory. In the meantime, she always was writing songs as a way of expression, apart from knowledge and theory.
