Clarisse Albrecht Biography
Born to a French father and Cameroonian mother, Clarisse split her childhood between Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and France.
Her nickname "Mulata Universal" comes from a poem written by a friend on Copacabana's beach in Rio De Janeiro. This poem was saying that when she smiles with all her heart and soul, she becomes a "mulata universal".
This is what her music is about. Her music expresses the soul of a woman with a universal interbreeding.
" Through my music, I'm willing to share a state of mind, an atmosphere, an emotion…"
Songwriter and composer, she uses English and Portuguese for most of her writings.
Her music mixes in a subtle blend deep-house, world music and bossa.
Her songs are soaked with "saudade", translating stigmas of her past, her roots, her influences, feelings and her Bohemian spirit.
With her sultry and mesmerizing voice, Clarisse invites us in her cosmopolitan and warm shelter.

Née d’un père français et d’une mère camerounaise, Clarisse Albrecht, a partagé son enfance entre la Guinée-Bissau, le Mozambique et la France.
Son surnom "Mulata Universal" vient d'un poème écrit par un ami sur la plage de Copacabana à rio De Janeiro. Ce poème disait que lorsqu'elle souriat de tout son cœur et de toute son âme. Elle devenait une "mulata universal", une métisse universelle.
C'est aussi la définition de sa musique. La mise à nu de l'âme d'une femme au métissage universel.

Auteur et compositeur, elle écrit la plupart de ses textes en anglais et en portugais.
