For Tonight Biography

For Tonight was formed in 2016 when I (Brock) became sick of just performing covers and decided to form a band to start producing original music. I started getting the word out, and in a couple days my co-worker told me that he knew a drummer (Jesse) and keyboard player (Colby). We got together a couple times and jammed a few original songs I had been working on. After some time I got in contact with my childhood friend (Sam) who I used to play music with. I knew the overall sound of the band was missing something, and figured that Sam could really bring the sound together. After a practice with Sam we knew he was a good fit, so he became the 4th member of For Tonight. Sam brought bright vocals and an upbeat swing guitar into the mix. It wasn’t long before we realized that this thing we formed just for a fun hobby, could actually turn into something great. Something was still missing though, a bassist. I started asking around for a bassist and it wasn’t long I found one. My co-worker (Jeff) who played guitar but said he would like to try out playing bass.

We jammed in my garage for around 4 months before the neighbour’s started calling the police. Apparently our weekly rehearsals were too loud for the suburban neighbourhood. We decided to cut our losses and pay for a rehearsal space in St.Albert. Jams seemed to run more smoothly not having to worry about bugging the neighbours, so we really started to buckle down and get original material together. We played a couple gigs here and there and they we’re alright. We we’re still trying to figure each other out, and really how we each fit into the band. The early original songs are good and we perform them really well, but there was some separation in our set. The songs I wrote we’re inspired by my musical taste which include Pop Punk, Indie, and Alternative music. While Sam’s songs we’re bluesier and could be more easily classified in the Southern Rock genre. Our sets got consistently better and better as we became more comfortable on stage and really just more comfortable with each other.

After a year of rehearsing and playing shows together we finally decided to start composing songs as a band. We wanted to start to remove the separation in our sets and figured that if we get every members input, the songs will have a little bit of everything. It came slow, but we realized the songs we were writing had potential. Potential to be something great.

And here we are. All caught up. We have 7 new songs that we have written as a team, and they really capture all of our musical tastes. These are the songs that we are going to move forward with performing them all around the province, and country. We are more motivated than we’ve ever been to perform our new songs to all the live music fans in each community. We hope to inspire each and every person that comes out to get silly, and be themselves.
