Nate Holden Performing Arts Center
4708 W Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90016
After 45 years of performing, 23 studio albums and a Grammy (for the immortal "Don't Leave Me This Way"), Thelma Houston now brings debuts her latest project: "My Motown", her solo show, to Los Angeles's Nate Holden Performing Arts Center. At a time when pop "stars" are barely into their teens, it's a pleasant shock to recall that Houston had graduated high school, gotten married, had two children and was divorced and working in healthcare when she got her first big break. Now she relives the entire journey -- from her gospel recordings for Capital Records, her debut album "Sunshower" and her wild ride with Motown Records -- during an incredible evening of music. Houston will share behind-the-scene anecdotes in between renditions of classic Motown hits, including "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "I Second That Emotion", and (of course) "Don't Leave Me This Way."
