Boston Cello Quartet Biography
The Boston Cello Quartet was founded in January 2010 by four cellists of the Boston Symphony Orchestra: Blaise Dejardin, Adam Esbensen, Mihail Jojatu and Alexandre Lecarme. With the wish to explore the limitless possibilities of the instrument they love, the cello, they perform a wide repertoire ranging from classical music to jazz, tango, contemporary works and even comic medleys. Some pieces are written originally for cello quartet, and others are arrangements written by cellists mostly over the last century. Cellist Blaise Dejardin is also adding to the repertoire by constantly writing new arrangements for the Boston Cello Quartet. The members of the Boston Cello Quartet are originally from France, Romania and the United States, and met in 2008, when three of them joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra. This is the first time in the history of the Boston Symphony Orchestra that such a cello ensemble is formed. The group has enjoyed considerable success and their debut concert at Tanglewood in July 2010 was described by The Berkshire Eagle as "The best Prelude Concert at Ozawa Hall since the hall was built" (in 1994). www.bostoncelloquartet.com Founded by: Blaise Dejardin, Adam Esbensen, Mihail Jojatu, Alexandre Lecarme, cellos
