Cat and the Queen Biography
Cat and the Queen” is Barrie-born musician and theatre artist, Cat Montgomery.
With a style informed by a long history as a multidisciplinary theatre artist, Cat offers a unique voice to the Canadian music landscape. Her sound effortlessly weaves between indie, cabaret and progressive rock. As a performer, her ferocity and relentless theatrics are quickly earning her a reputation as one of Toronto’s artists to watch.
Since forming the project in 2014, some memorably raucous and engaging performances have earned her a growing fan base at shows and on social media (www.instagram.com/catandthequeen/). In 2017, she headlined Barrie’s Pride Festival, and delivered successful showcases at Canadian Music Week and NXNE. She is a regular act at Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern, Lee’s Palace, The Painted Lady, Rivoli and Cameron House. In late 2015, Cat and the Queen opened for Vag Halen and Lez Zeppelin at The Phoenix Concert Theatre. Cat also co-created and composed the original score for Inside, which earned honourable mention for the “Theatre Centre Emerging Artist Award” at SummerWorks Performance Festival in August 2017
Cat is currently working on the production of an LP with Toronto recording engineer, Alex Gamble (Fucked Up, Alvvays, Broken Social Scene, www.audiogamble.com). The first single, “Blades Of Grass”, was released digitally in August 2017 (www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5AwXpg2SoU ). Her debut full length, “Loba Loca”, is slated for release in early 2018 and will be mastered by Brock McFarlane in Vancouver, BC (http://www.cpsmastering.com). She'll be celebrating its release January 11th at the Horseshoe Tavern.
Cat currently performs with a collection of talented musicians, including Andrew Carr, Dave Love, Graham Mackey, Max Kaye, Brent Maidens and Liam Montgomery.
