Moody Kablawi creates hip hop music - uncovering new trip hop fusions of jazz and World music rhythms; exploring and experimenting new dimensions for Arabic hip hop and pushing the boundaries of hip hop, funk and punk. He sings and raps on top of produced beats, live looping guitars and vocal effects - incorporating stunning lights and visual art into his electrifying one man show.
Moody has faced personal and social challenges from a very young age - as a Palestinian born and raised in Israel, and also living with genetic disease Nystagmus Horizontal - often called ‘dancing eyes’ due to it causing involuntary eye movement. Never allowing anything to hold him back, Moody embraced these challenges - music becoming his saviour, his tool for self-expression and his passion.
He released his first EP “Mazaji” at 15, toured Europe and the USA with different ensembles in his late teens and has put together numerous music and creative projects. Moody also works as a theatre lighting designer having developed ways to work with his reduced vision - his heightened sense of hearing and appreciation of sound enriching his work.
Last year saw Moody perform for the first time as a one-man show showcasing 2017’s album “Shashi” (“Screen”) at the inaugural Palestinian Music Expo in Ramallah and on stages in Switzerland and London.
Moody’s work, together with his unique look, love for knowledge, self-improvement and talent has started to earn the interest of international audiences and industry alike. He took centre stage in The Guardian’s report (Guardian story) from PMX 2017 and has gained a production mentorship with Aaron Horn. His sister & manager Maram is also working under the first PMX management mentorship.
New single Ma Fi Ma’ani, produced by Aaron Horn was released on AWAL on 30.7.18.
Moody is currently working on his new album.
