Whiskey In The Pines Biography

The bourbon-drenched honesty for which Whiskey in the Pines is known was born from singer/songwriter David Lareau's childhood among the red clay hills and Spanish Moss of North Florida. Signed by Columbia Records at 19, David has toured the country for nearly two decades, and with his new band, Whiskey in the Pines, and the release of their debut EP, “Sunshine from the Blue Cactus,” the road will be a place he’ll visit again With songs, such as “Roses,” “Sixteen,” and “Answering Machine,” the band soars to thunderous peaks and meanders through gentle valleys, weaving together alt-country, folk and rock influences. You hear bits of Jason Isbell and Tom Petty in their music. The choruses and hooks of the songs remind you of day-drinking with friends at the bar while you hum along to your favorite tunes over the jukebox stereo. “In the end there's always a beginning, and I think that this is what the album is about. It was a crossover for me that bridged the gap between songs I was writing and songs I wanted to write. It’s music for porch-sitting, drinking and good conversation,” says David. You’ll find David at center stage with his trusty red-335 guitar paired with a voice that makes you believe every word he sings. The band, consisting of bass player and long-time friend Aaron Halford, guitarist and backing vocalist Kelly Chavers (a.k.a. Riddles Pachinko) and drummer Erik Wutz (Miller Lite extraordinaire), bring a big sound into their music and onto the stage. Their sound is wrapped with swirling pedal steel courtesy of Barrett Williams from Nashville, TN. With countless invitations to play with national acts over the past two years, they’ve toured the southeast hard. The band plans to showcase their powerful live show and hook-filled songs with a tour set for the late fall of 2017 going well into the New Year.
