He has played pubs, clubs, pavements, pickets & benefits, arts centres & festivals, local radio, BBC Radio 3 & 4, Belgian Radio 1, Nicaraguan TV & Channel 4, and even the Albert Hall in London.After playing in folk clubs and bands Robb made his first solo album in 1985 and has since released over 30 albums. In 2016 a five-CD career retrospective box set, plus a 64-page booklet, entitled "A Reasonable History of Impossible Demands", was released by PM Press in the USA. Robb has worked with a variety of bands, with friend & fellow songwriter Leon Rosselson, as well as solo. In 1997 Robb wrote the song suite Gentle Men, an ambitious family history of the first world war for the Passendael Peace Concert.In 2006 he was a special guest at the BBC's "Folk Britannia" concert at the Barbican Centre, ending the night with a rendition of World War I song "Hanging on the Old Barbed Wire". In 2016, Johnson and a group billed as the Corbynistas released the single "JC 4 PM 4 Me" in support of Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, and made a valient shot for the Christmas number one!
