San Francisco, CA
This summer, acoustic rockers Dylan Connor and Benjamin Cartel are teaming up to bring their original, hook-laden, Rock ‘n’ Roll music to the West Coast. Dylan and Benjamin figured they should join forces based on the fact that they can both quote the film This is Spinal Tap verbatim. Dylan used to front San Francisco power pop band M.Headphone, but moved back east in 2004 and made a solo record called Plug In with indie rock producer Bryce Goggin of the Lemonheads, Ramones and Phish fame. His latest release Spirit Glue, which was funded by his fans, has been compared to The Shins and Jeff Buckley. “Connor has a broader worldview than most songwriters. He’s got an easy way with a pop hook and can be a ferociously incisive wordsmith.” - New York Music Daily Benjamin is sometimes half of the indie rock duo Kasier Cartel, whose songs have been featured on the HBO series Bored to Death and the Josh Radnor film Liberal Arts, and who have a record deal with Bluhammock Records. Benjamin, who sounds like John Lennon fronting Wilco, released his first solo LP, Gothenburg, in 2015. He has toured relentlessly since, and is currently in the studio working on his next LP. “If you care about fine, incisive songwriting, you’ll be happy to identify with Benjamin Cartel. Musically speaking, a particularly captivating captor.” - American Songwriter Benjamin and Dylan will be backing each other up on tunes from their respective records, and who knows…they might throw in a Spinal Tap cover or two.
