Discordia Biography

Discordia merges the sounds of Bobby Cannon’s crushing guitars, Becca McCabe’s haunting and melodic keyboard orchestrations and harp, Joel Krueger’s thunderous bass, and Aaron Jones’ precision drumming, with the spine tingling soprano vocal talents of Cindy Cannon, whose melodic delivery of their dark and thematic lyrics takes the listener on a roller coaster ride from aggressive low notes to angelic transcendence. The end result is a sound firmly grounded in its metal roots but unbound by any traditional limitations of the genre.

Sacramento, CA. March 2018
Discordia is thrilled to announce the much anticipated release of Vengeance Through Vanity, the full length follow up to their eponymous 2015 EP.

A conceptual album rooted in dark mythology, horror and Sci-Fi, Vengeance Through Vanity harkens back to the days when albums were meant to be heard start to finish. Each song is crafted and placed intentionally, designed to take the listener on a journey through the underworld and beyond. Dramatic, exciting, and at times terrifying, fans of the genre are in for a fantastic treat, filled with thrashing metal riffs, gorgeous melodies, haunting soundscapes, and choruses that will have them singing along with mischievous glee. Some have described the sound as a heavy metal version of the old Hammer Horror film soundtracks. But it is much more than that! According to The San Francisco National Examiner, Discordia’s music "goes well beyond what most would consider a metal band."

Guitarist and composer Bobby Cannon (founder of the band), stated in Guitar Player Magazine "it was no easy task to find like-minded musicians with excellent work ethics to play music with.” That work ethic shows in the detailed compositions and performances. Like a finely engineered automobile, every part is played with confidence and precision, clearly establishing Discordia as a group of professionals who take their art seriously and know they are a cut above the ordinary.
The foundation of the Discordia’s sound is in Bobby’s scorching guitar riffs, arranged to perfection, with Krueger and Jones tying things together on the rhythm side. However it’s the female members of the band that set Discordia apart from the pack. Becca McCabe takes the term symphonic to a whole other level. With years of classical training, scoring notes as if she were writing a motion picture soundtrack, her orchestrations would make an incredible album on their own. She also lends her own ethereal vocal harmonies to the devilish soundscapes, and just when your jaw can’t drop any further, she plays an actual Harp and somehow makes it seem completely natural in the midst of all the metal mayhem. The final piece of this mad symphony is the sonorous voice of Cindy Cannon, who can both lure you into a dream-like fantasy as a siren subdues a sailor lost at sea, and then shock you back to reality with a vengeful battle cry that would have brave men questioning their courage. When it’s all said and done, Discordia delivers a bold, unique, dark symphonic sound, at once elegant and aggressive, primal and raw, yet urgently modern. With this combination, it’s no wonder they have a quickly growing legion of followers worldwide.
After the release of their self-titled EP in 2015, Discordia have been praised continuously across the globe in numerous magazines, blogs, and metal websites, including Guitar Player Magazine and Revolver, and they’ve seen consistent rotation on almost every significant web-based metal radio station. Big things have been expected from this talented group, and Vengeance Through Vanity delivers.
Where do they go from here? Discordia will continue to push themselves further towards the top of the metal world, with a timeless and unforgettable collection of Dark Orchestral Heavy Metal that will no doubt win the hearts and minds of all who love Metal music worldwide.

Currently, the band have been invited to open a series of shows for Saxon, Dio’s Disciples, Graham Bonnet Band, Alcatrazz, Holy Grail, Adrenaline Mob, and Act of Defiance, and expect to tour in the U.S. and Europe in 2018-2019.

Late Spring 2018 will see the release of their first single and video.
