Greek traditional pentatonics meet the World blues on what we call Roots ’n' Blues. KATO APO TO DENTRO (meaning in English: under the tree) is a collaboration between several musicians and friends, based in Athens, Greece. Blues, Pentatonic, Greek traditional melodies and World rhythms, meet unexpectedly through guitars, bass, mandolin, melodica, and percussion, creating a contemporary hybrid they call ‘World R ’n’ B’ (World Roots 'n' Blues).

Greek traditional pentatonics meet the World blues on what we call Roots ’n' Blues
KATO APO TO DENTRO (meaning in english: under the tree) is a collaboration between several musicians and friends, based in Athens, Greece.
The band was formed in 2007, from members of the world-electro band ‘Palyrria’ and the dub-reggae band ‘Direct Connection’, who joined their musical skills and enthusiasm in order to explore the connection of world musics' using pentatonic scales as a basic element.
Blues, Pentatonic, Greek traditional melodies and World rhythms, meet unexpectedly through guitars, bass, mandolin, melodica, bagpipe, clarinet, kaval and percussion, creating a contemporary hybrid they call ‘World R ’n’ B’ (World Roots 'n' Blues). Couplets in the blues mood and tales of adventures in far away or utopian places, compose this musical journey.
Along the years' many musician friends joined this journey, following the never-ending paths of world music, either on stage or in the studio, enriching KATO APO TO DENTRO’s sound and experiences.
The band continues to perform in venues and festivals around Greece, while at the same time is working on new material.
