Who Is Fancy Biography

You might just feel like you can do anything after you hear Who Is Fancy’s major label debut single, "Goodbye," and that's the whole point. It's woven into the very fabric of his music. Everything comes back to his message of personal freedom and empowerment. Growing up in the tiny town of Bentonville, AK, Fancy always felt different. Saying that he didn't fit in at high school would be an understatement. As a result, the bullying became so bad that his parents allowed him to quit at 17-years-old and pursue his dream of music in Nashville, TN. It was in "Music City" that Fancy was born. "They started calling me Fancy," he recalls. "It was the first time I could identify with something that was unique and individual for me." Three sold out shows based off word-of-mouth alone led to a Big Machine publishing deal that sent him to Los Angeles where he linked up with super producer Dr. Luke's Prescription Music. His trip to Los Angeles also landed him in the office of acclaimed talent manager Scooter Braun who signed him to management and his SchoolBoy Records. At the start of 2015, Big Machine C.E.O. and founder Scott Borchetta tweeted the link to "Goodbye." There would be no pictures or information revealed. The world knew nothing about the voice behind the song. "Goodbye" went viral with praise from the likes of Meghan Trainor and Kacey Musgraves. Nobody knew his identity, but Fancy's message through "Goodbye" was clear and strong. Even following his dramatic reveal on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Fancy remains true to his message. “Fancy means freedom," he leaves off. "Everyone is Fancy. I want this to be a moment for people to see it’s okay to be you. This isn't about me or who's singing: it's about how the music makes you feel."
