Sara Azriel Music Biography

"Romantically heavy and elusive as moonlight, Sara Azriel’s music defies boundaries, brightens the heart, and casts light on a young woman painfully in love with the world around her…..” "Sara’s voice is absolutely gorgeous, perfectly tuned and attenuated to whatever mood she so effortlessly evokes." ".....brilliantly highlighting her incredible lyricism and stunning Jeff Buckley-like vocal gymnastics."
— Eric Smith - Providence Monthly

“She is going to be a big star. She sounds like a mix between Adele and Sarah McLachlan, both ethereal and simultaneously soulful and grounded."
-- China Forbes (Pink Martini) -Songlines Magazine

"Sara is an angel, an exception to the rule, with a voice
that can raise the most hardened soul to exalt,
because it conveys all that she is,
and feels good to all of us."
--Brad Barr (The Barr Brothers)

Sara Azriel is an eclectic songwriter whose music combines the universality of pop, the sincerity of folk, and the richness of soul music. Often compared to artists like Joni Mitchell, Adele, and Regina Spektor, she displays an emotionalism in her vocal performance that is known for inducing tears and shivers.

Sara was born and raised on the shores of Lake Michigan into a large musical family, and has has criss-crossed the country pursuing her music. "I've always been a bit of a lone wolf." After graduating from Berklee College of Music, Azriel moved to Los Angeles, playing venues such as Hotel Cafe and the Knitting Factory and teaching piano and voice lessons to celebrities and industry families. Now based in Providence, Rhode Island, Sara is writing her first full-length record and directing a songwriting program for at-risk youth.

Her self-titled EP released in 2013 was mixed by Grammy-Award winning mix engineer James M. Wisner (Amy Winehouse, Justin Timberlake) and includes musical, writing and production contributions from Davy Nathan (Christina Aguilara, Toni Braxton), and Andrew ‘Moon’ Bain (Snoop Dogg, Major Lazer).
