Live On KPFA!
When jazz & soul singer Hannah Levy, country singer-songwriter Shiloh Parkerson and composer Madeline Tasquin come together on stage, the result is an unforgettable show packed with joyful charisma, playful stage banter and rich vocal harmonies that lift the spirits. Imagine The Supremes, The Andrew Sisters and Dirty Projectors rolled into one. Tasquin Trio formed in Fall 2016 when, after Madeline Tasquin reflected on how much joy she felt when singing with other women, she posted a call in the San Francisco Bay Area to audition vocalists. A half an hour later she bumped into Shiloh Parkerson at breakfast, and encouraged her to audition. Hannah Levy, a member of Kitka Ensemble and now a student of Berkeley Jazz Conservatory, heard about the auditions through a friend. One week later, the three women found themselves doubling over with laughter as they met for the first time to try out their vocal blend. Needless to say, that blend quickly evolved beyond the vocal, and audiences at their San Francisco Bay Area shows have remarked on the charm and joy radiated by the three outgoing women being themselves, with each other, on stage for all to see. Tasquin Trio has set aside several weeks from their busy summer schedules to head out on the road together. In addition to Tasquin's original songs from the forthcoming EP, their tour set pulls from the country, soul, pop and balkan music traditions to create a musical variety show replete with humour, sprinkled with melancholy, and wrapped in a whole lot of soul.
