On Saturday the 22nd June, we are looking forward to hosting the follow up to our successful Songwriting 101 Workshop with our partners Mzansi Music Magazine and the Wits School of Arts. The topic is, "Lyrics - Do we write them, or do they write themselves?"Our "Lyrical Council" of songwriters are Nikita Michael and Mbali Zondo from the band the Cover Dolls and upcoming jazz vocalist, lyricist and poet Mihi Matshingana who will join our panel for the first time.To complete the line-up we are thrilled to welcome back the fantastic Phumelele Mzimela from the Wits School of Arts - she's got a great sense of humour, so will make sure we don't take ourselves too seriously and have some fun in exploring the lyric writing process. Our panellists are going to unpack some of the techniques they use when writing lyrics for their songs and for other artists. We're going to look into various techniques for writing better lyrics and what to do when you're stuck for inspiration, or just plain wondering what you should be writing about. There may even just be some fun challenges for you to participate in, so bring your imagination, inspiration, notebooks, pens and pencils to:Venue:4th FloorThe Downtown Music Hub62 Goud St. (Cnr.
