Join us for an evening of celebratory music and readings in the glorious surroundings of St. Patrick's Hall as we rediscover music written for the Irish State Musick; the band of virtuoso musicians based at Dublin Castle in the 18th Century.

Hear for the first time in 300 years the spectacular Birthday Odes written for the Dublin Court festivities by Master's of State Musick, Johann Sigismond Cousser and Matthew Dubourg.

Also including compositions with connections to Dublin by Purcell, Roseingrave, Vivaldi, Corelli, Boyce, Handel and even Jonathan Swift.

The programme for the evening will include excerpts from:

HENRY PURCELL: Great Parent, Hail, 1694

THOMAS ROSEINGRAVE: Anthem, ‘Arise, Shine’, 1713

JOHANN COUSSER: Serenata Theatrale, for the Peace of Utrecht, 1713

ARCANGELO CORELLI: Violin Sonata, op. 5, no. 9 with ornaments by Geminiani and Dubourg

MATTHEW DUBOURG: Highlights from the Royal Odes, 1728-66

WILLIAM BOYCE: Anthem, ‘Blessed is he that Considereth the Sick and Needy’, 1741

G F HANDEL: Utrecht Te Deum & Jubilate, 1713, Dublin version, 1736
