CHRISTIAN SCOTT « The Centennial Trilogy » Christian Scott est un génie, mais il n'en a cure. Le jeune trompettiste , est devenu en quelques années la figure emblématique d'une génération de jazzmen (Robert Glasper en tête) capables grâce à leur talent de bousculer les conventions du genre pour l'ouvrir à de nouveaux horizons et à un nouveau public. Christian Scott, 33 ans, est issu de la longue lignée des souffleurs de La Nouvelle-Orléans, qui commence avec les légendaires King Oliver et Louis Armstrong et se poursuit avec les trompettistes Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard ou Nicholas Payton. Après avoir collaboré avec McCoy Tyner, Prince, Marcus Miller, Eddie Palmieri, Mos Def, il est aujourd’hui la nouvelle coqueluche du jazz fusion. Petit-fils du légendaire Big Chief Donald Harrison Sr. qui dirigeait quatre tribus de Black Indians, campé au carrefour du hip hop, de la soul et du jazz, Christian Scott fait partie de ces artistes louisianais qui réinventent la musique de jazz depuis un siècle.

Been following him for years, and this could be his best band yet. Power and grace and such a groove!
The only comparison I can think of is the Yussef Dayes Blue Note set I saw last year..

Chief Adjuah Biography
Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah [formally Christian Scott] is a two-time
Edison Award-Winning, six-time Grammy-Nominated sonic architect,
trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, designer of
innovative technologies and musical instruments (..Adjuah Trumpet,
Siren, Sirenette, and Chief Adjuah Bow), founder and CEO of the
Stretch Music app company and record label, and crowned Chieftain
of the Xodokan Nation of the maroon tribes of New Orleans. He is the
grandson of legendary Big Chief, Donald Harrison Sr., and the nephew
of jazz innovator and legendary saxophonist-composer, Dr. Big Chief
Donald Harrison, Jr. Since 2001 Adjuah has released thirteen critically
acclaimed studio recordings, four live albums, and one greatest hits
collection. He is known for developing the harmonic convention
known as the “forecasting cell” for his use of an un-voiced tone in his
playing, emphasizing breath over vibration at the mouthpiece known
as the whisper technique, and is widely regarded as the progenitor of
the Stretch Music sound. His innovations have garnering a PBS
American Masters short "Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah The New
Chief", JAZZFM's Innovator/Innovation of the Year Award, Jazz
Journalist Association Trumpeter of the year, The Herb Alpert Award
in the Arts, The Paul Ackett Award, Echo: Deutscher Musikpreis,
