Warhol's Theory Biography

Started in 1997 by Joe Burkel and Jared Grunau. These two founding members formed the new band after their former band "Color Blind" broke up earlier in the year.

Joe had already come up with a new band name "Warhol's Theory", after the Andy Warhol theory that everyone gets "their 15 minutes of fame".

Andy Ahl was the next to join. The three members of the newly formed band decided to write music before finding vocalist Chris Wills.

The band released their first Album "Eclectic Persuasion" in 1998 and performed throughout the Mid-West.

This lineup of the band would only last for a year and a half before Chris Wills ventured out on his own solo career.

Shortly after their vocalist left, Andy Ahl left the band. Nick Smith was brought on to replace Andy Ahl, but just a few months later Joe decided to disband the group.

Sadly, in late 2009 longtime friend and bassist Jared Grunau passed away. In early 2010 around the sadness grew a newly found passion to continue the Warhol's Theory sound. They re-released and remastered a fully visioned version of the 1998 release "Eclectic Persuasion".

On August 6th, 2015 that Warhol's Theory was reforming with original vocalist Christopher Wills re-joining the band.

On August 29th, 2015 the three original surviving members released a preview of their first new song together since 1998 titled "Degauss".

In June 2017, Warhol's Theory added new bassist Steve Miller to the line up.

Steve Miller left in 2018 and in July 2019 DJ Sandau stepped in on bass.

The band is currently working on a new album.
