The main appeal of the 1992 Kevin Costner/ Whitney Houston film was that of Houston’s musical performances, especially her rendition of Dolly Parton’s song “I Will Always Love You.” Now, Houston fans can revel in their nostalgia for this and numerous other Houston numbers, which have been assimilated into this musical theater adaptation. Indeed, while the songs from the film are recreated here (on most nights by Deborah Cox, alternatively by Jasmin Richardson), other Houston songs like “So Emotional,” “One Moment in Time,” “Saving All My Love,” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” form the principal focus of writer Alexander Dinelaris’s adaptation, which premiered in London’s West End, in 2012.
