Never been to something like this during the day before so I thought I would try it out. Was actually very good and the music and choice of DJs could not have been any better. The venue was big, although the place was packed out it was still easy to moved around. But Annie Mac was AMAZING!!!!

Annie Mac Biography

Annie MacManus (better known as Annie Mac) is a disc jockey who hosts an eponymous electronic dance music show on BBC Radio 1 in the United Kingdom which airs at 10:00 pm on Friday evenings.

Born on 18 July 1978[1] in Dublin, in the Republic of Ireland, Annie moved to Belfast at the age of seventeen to study at the Queen's University (QUB). While at QUB she regularly frequented Shine, a club within the university's student union. This led to her working for the club, in promotion and marketing. After completing her degree and moving to London, she worked for a number of small radio stations, before moving to Radio 1. Before getting her own show she worked as a broadcast assistant and producer to Steve Lamacq, Colin Murray and Zane Lowe.

Annie hosts two shows on Radio 1. Her main show, called Annie Mac's Mash Up airs 10:00 pm to 12:00 midnight on Friday nights. Her second show is on Sunday nights 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Starting in October 2007, her Sunday show will be extended to last from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm and her Friday programme will move earlier from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

A popular feature of Annie Mac's Mash Up is the Annie Mac Mini Mix, an opportunity to showcase various DJs ability to produce a five minute DJ mix. The Mini Mix was also a feature of her previous show on a Thursday night.

As well as her own Friday and Sunday night slots Annie also covers for other Radio 1 shows. She is a regular stand in for Early Breakfast and Zane Lowe's show. Annie also stands in for Jo Whiley and Pete Tong's shows.

Annie makes regular appearances as a feature presenter on BBC2's 'The Culture Show', giving her opinions on the latest music offerings. She appeared on 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' in January 2006 and she co-presented Top Of The Pops on 18 June 2006 with Reggie Yates and on 11 July 2006 with Rufus Hound in a T in the Park special. Annie has also filled in for Zane Lowe on his "Gonzo" show on MTV2. She regularly DJs at clubs such as Fabric and university venues such as Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and Aston University (as shown by photo above).

Annie's brother Davey MacManus is in the British band The Crimea. Annie also has a sister named Rachel and one other brother.

On 18 February 2007 BBC Radio 1 launched their first video podcast or vodcast. It featured Annie on a backstage tour around the Radio 1 buildings.

On 30 September 2007 Annie co-hosted a special edition of the Annie Nightingale request show to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Radio 1's launch.
