About this concert
As part of this year's MUSICIANS AGAINST HOMELESSNESS campaign RED HOT MUSIC is proud to present: DAKKA SKANKS + THE BRONSONS + SWEET JONNY + ALIBI DAKKA SKANKS are a 5-piece Ska/Dub/Reggae band based in Brighton. With catchy choruses, up-tempo riffs and dubby breakdowns, they set out to rejuvenate a classic British sound - maintaining the iconic Ska vibe whilst seamlessly integrating elements of Dub, Reggae and Punk to create a modern twist on an old favourite. THE BRONSONS are a legendary garage rock rhythm and blues band from London. Influences range from sixties trash rock through to 1970s pub rock (Dr Feelgood, Count Bishops, Eddie and the Hot Rods). "The kind of authentic driven garage and pub rock that was an influence on the first wave of English punk bands" - the PUNKsite. "Awesome... a live show you don't want to miss" - New Music Saturday. SWEET JONNY are a gutter garage rock band from a do-nothing town. The Pixies on speed or the Cramps denied it. Or in the words of Rock-regeneration, "Sweet Jonny are without doubt a talented bunch with all the right influences. They wouldn’t be out of place at this years Rebellion Festival or Nice ‘n’ Sleazy. It’s not just the sound, not just the songs. I think it is the whole package." ALIBI are a young indie rock band from Hastings who are starting to get a name for themselves and approaches from labels thanks to excellent riffs, close harmonies and a strong sense of rock and roll dynamics. They played a BBC Introducing session in Brighton back in the spring: catch them now on a small stage. MUSICIANS AGAINST HOMELESSNESS is a non-profit organisation set up by Oasis manager Alan McGee. Throughout September 2017 there will be gigs up and down the country to raise money for Crisis. The bands play for free, the promoter works for free, and all profits will be donated direct to Crisis, the homelessness charity. Dakka Skanks Biography

Dakka Skanks are a band seriously committed to bringing hard reggae, ska, dub and punk rhythms together in a fresh style. The band have a passion and organic togetherness crafted through years of writing and performing with each other. Clara Byrne's mesmerising lead vocals cut through like a wave of emotion, her lyrical integrity straight from the soul, with serious social and political issues explored through dramatic delivery. From hard steppers to traditional ska, furious punk and sprinklings of soul, Dakka Skanks come with the style and always bring the dance.

Since their formation in 2016, and with an album and several single releases under their belt, Dakka Skanks have been continuously picking up live shows from promoters across Europe, the first Spanish mini-tour of the Madrid area generated more offers including shows across Germany, France, Belgium and Spain. 2018 brought shows with Madness, Neville Staple, The Skatalites, headline slots across the UK and the rest of Europe and 2019 onwards has seen more extensive European touring, shows with the likes of Bad Manners, The Skints, Dub Pistols, The Toasters, many large festivals and much more!
