Tali Rubinstein Biography

Tali Rubinstein is a contemporary recorder player, singer, and composer. She graduated with honors from prestigious music institutions in Israel: Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts, Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance (B. Mus. – jazz recorder performance). She also studied at the Buchman-Mehta School of Music, Tel-Aviv University (classical recorder performance), and served in the Israel Defense Force as an Outstanding Musician in the Air Force musical band. Tali is currently Studying at Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA (Double Major: Jazz Performance and Contemporary Writing and Production), Where she recently earned a place on the Dean's list for excellent academic performance. Tali received scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation (1994-2006), and won second prize at the seventh International Recorder Festival Contest 2004 in Utrecht, The Netherlands. During her studies at Rimon School she was recipient of the Gilad Shein Memorial Scholarship, and currently is a recipient of a full tuition scholarship at Berklee College of Music. Tali performed a variety of genres in major festivals throughout Israel, as soloist, band leader, and band member, many in which she was highly involved as an arranger and composer. She performed at major Israeli venues such as the Jerusalem International Convention Center, Caesarea Amphitheater, Givatayim Theater, Tel Aviv Museum, and more. She appeared in numerous broadcasts of Israel Radio and Television, performing both classical and popular music. Tali played in master classes with prominent baroque artists Kes Booke, Marion Verbruggen, Han Toll, Sebastian Marq, Michael Schneider, Kate Clark, Florilegium Ensemble, and others. Since she moved to the US in January 2012, Tali has performed in distinguished events, among them: B’nai Torah Congregation annual concert, Boca Raton, FL (with the Israeli Quartet and cantor Udi Spielman), Berklee College Global Fusion Event (as a representative of Israel), the Israeli Executive Forum event (in the presence of The Consulate General of Israel to New England), and more. Tali Performed and recorded with artists Kevin Mahogany, Dudu Fisher, Dan Toren, Ariel Horowitz, Kobi Aflalo, Yardena Arazi, Knesiat Hasechel (including “Autobiography”, performed at the 2007 Israel Festival), Kobi Oz, Avi Grainik, Dana Berger, David Broza, and more. She recently recorded an album with her band Shalna Alecha as instrumentalist, singer, and arranger. Her first instrumental duo album, "Lullaby", featuring original works and arrangements with bass player Noam Shacham, was released on September 2012.
