Taylor Rankin & his Violin Leroy Half-Japanese - Bermudian & Canadian - Taylor doesn't do things like other people do them. As a child he practiced upside down in the confines of the classical practice room. To keep practicing at home interesting, he overdubbed on tape recorders & played along to radio and tv shows. At age 12 while away at school he asked his father for a summer allowance and he was taken down to the local City Hall for a busking license to earn his own money. Having played in bars, studios, lofts, roofs, stages, stadiums & concert halls with Reggae, Gospel, Jazz, Folk, Hip Hop, Pop & Rap Artists worldwide, Taylor has found that structure within improvisation can lead to a liberated creative repertoire. With a combination of skill, emotion and playful curiosity he has emerged with an original style and sound like no other. Taylor uses his violin to create sounds which are entirely unprecedented that you might find somewhat reminiscent to an electric guitar, a DJ scratching a record, a snare drum, a bass, or a flute. With "live-loopers", Taylor uses his violin and voice to lay down mind blowing musical creations. He is supported by the pulsating drumming of Dwight Hart.
