The Theatre at Ace Hotel
933 S. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90015
The original version of performance artist Taylor Mac's "A 24-Decade History of Popular Music" was 24 hours long. That's right -- 24 consecutive hours of nonstop costume changes, singing and audience participation in a brilliantly conceived history of popular music, kicking off with the Revolutionary War and blazing forward decade after decade to the modern day. Now divided into four (relatively) bite-sized chapters covering six decades apiece, this breakneck journey through the history of American song over two weeks at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Downtown L.A. isn't just a show -- it's an experience.
