Two of Ireland's most respected songwriters, Patrick Barrett (Hedge Schools) and Tim V. Smyth (The Sky At Night), have recently taken up residence in Kilkenny and so these blow ins, encouraged by another, will bring their music to The Hole In The Wall on Jun 29th in the second of the series of events under the "Songwriters at The Hole In The Wall" banner. Both have well received albums to their names and are working on new material. Both have been lauded in the Irish music press. Tim's collaboration, the self titled "Hidden Highways" was reviewed by the Irish Times: "Sometimes musicians don't need to reinvent the wheel to make a great album" Patrick is the voice of The Hedge Schools collective, with both records produced by the legendary Joe Chester. Of their second album "At The End Of Winding Day", Paul McLoone of Today FM described it as "Understated Perfection". This is a rare combination and one they've spoken about for some time.
