Fin. Biography

[DIY indie rock band from London, UK] Late 2011 and 2012 saw fiN rise to early success with the release of their first four singles on limited edition 7” vinyl, sold out shows at London’s The Borderline and Bush Hall and extensive touring across Europe supporting such names as Muse, The Kooks, Incubus and Feeder to name a few. Along the way fiN have performed to over 100 000 people, accumulated 200 000 YouTube hits on videos shot and edited together by the band themselves and built the strong foundations of a keen fan-base eager for more. fiN were formed in late 2009 by four friends from Wandsworth – Luke Joyce (25, vocals), Jonny Garner (25, guitar), Simon Harding (26, drums) and Kerry Lambert (26, bass). Their goal was to create something unique, taking their influences; dEUS, Pearl Jam and The Smashing Pumpkins, and the main elements of alternative rock and creating something innovative and unexpected out of it. Debut single ‘The Artisan’, an almost entirely instrumental track which blends the epic darkness of Radiohead and the rock frenzy of Foo Fighters, brought fiN early adopters including XFM’s Mary Anne Hobbs who made it her single of the week. The singles “Everybody Dies Alone”, “Twenty Three” and “Life Is Wasted On The Living” followed, all adorned with iconic images of famous British inventors created by the band. These were released on the bands own label Artisan Records. In March 2013 fiN released the collection of singles together for the first time on their debut album, including previously unreleased tracks and bonus material, Life Is Wasted On The Living is now available from iTunes, Amazon and Google Play. Recorded by the band and mixed by Adrian Bushby (Two Door Cinema Club, Foo Fighters, Muse) it is a debut of epic scale and vast ambition. Album Available: http://smarturl.it/LIWOTL --------- Interview with Mark Beaumont: "There are no rules," says charismatic singer Luke Joyce, "throw away the rulebook. You want to aim as high as you can, and that's what we're gonna do. If you aim at 'impossible' you're always going to end up better than if you just aim for somewhere logical." The Southwest London schoolmates-turned-twenty-something guitar pop visionaries Jonny Garner, Simon Harding, Kerry Lambert and Luke Joyce (the Nirvana, Pumpkins, Cure and REM-loving outcast and hopeless romantic with a paranoia-inducing drug habit firmly in his past) decided on leaving behind their grunge covers band roots in November 2008, utilising their childhood roots in Motown, The Beatles, Led Zep and Nirvana and channelling their creative forces for the reinvention of alt.rock. "We really wanted to capture the sense of celebration," says Luke, "especially with everything going on with the recession and everyone being a bit pissed off, jobless and unhappy. We wanted to celebrate over adversity and get people having fun, have a great time." You're only young once right? fiN wrote, recorded & produced the album themselves in a disused shelving factory in Wandsworth; true DIY and total freedom. "It started out quite heavy but we didn't want to be just a heavy band. We wanted to be a band that wasn't afraid to write pop songs as well as still have the indie-rock element." Mixed by Muse, Two Door Cinema Club and Foo Fighters impresario Adrian Bushby, after the band sent a track to him on a whim, they set the mark as "the heaviest indie band around." The band aren't just treading fresh paths with the sound either. In a unique move, fiN are releasing the record on a series of 6x 7" singles which will make up the 12 track album. Fans will simply collect the vinyl's at gigs or from the bands website, receiving a download code which allows them access to the MP3s, videos and extra footage for every song. It's a creative way to purchase a cool, diverse album from a band that represents the next generation of indie, a bona fide evolution that finally sees British guitar indie-rock stop dragging its knuckles and start punching at the stars. music: http://smarturl.it/fiNmusic fiN Official Facebook Page Life Is Wasted On The Living #LIWOTL
