Samuel Taylor Biography

Samuel Taylor’s music career began in his teens as the front man and co-songwriter of Sheffield band Dead like Harry. The band made an impact on the UK live scene. Their sound was described as “the Steel City’s answer to Fleetwood Mac” and they went on to sell over 5000 copies of their 2010 album, ‘Know The Joy of Good Living’.

After the band amicably parted ways, Samuel began recording his debut solo EP, ‘Some Nobody to Me’. The release came in 2013, collaborating with members of the British Blues-Rock Band, The Temperance Movement (Damon Wilson and Luke Potashnick). ‘Some Nobody to Me’ received BBC Radio 2 support from Steve Lamacq and Graham Norton. The single was also playlisted on 14 regional stations.

In 2014, Samuel was back in the studio with Welsh singer-songwriter Jodie Marie to start work on a new musical partnership. Taylor & Marie released their EP, ‘Tilt the Moon’, on Aug 25th, 2014, and received support from BBC Radio 2, as well as being named Artist of the Week on BBC Radio Wales.

2015 turned a new page for Samuel as he set out on an international journey to record a series of solo EPs in different towns around the world.

“I set out on a journey of discovery. I wanted to experience new sounds and meet new musicians and producers - to work in new places with different people. I met so many amazing individuals along the way and was lucky enough to work with producers such as Greg Haver (Super Furry Animals, Manic Street Preachers), Neilson Hubbard (The Orphan Brigade, Ryan Culwell, Apache Relay), David Sanderson (Hey Sholay, 65 Days of Static), and David Glover (Slow Club, Pete Williams). It was a journey that I soon realised had no end and although I’m releasing the first in a series of compilation albums, this release does not signify the end of the journey, just the start. I've recently visited Nova Scotia and the West Coast of the USA. As we speak, I’m currently writing my next EP in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and am looking to visit Barcelona next month as well.” - Samuel Taylor, January 2016

'Tales From A Troubadour- the EP compilation album' will be released on Friday April 8th, 2016. Soon after its release, Samuel will set out on his next journey: supporting Nerina Pallot on the UK tour of her latest album, ‘The Sound and The Fury’.
