Melinda Biography

Melinda’s debut album is a compilation of music and song expressing dark emotion and physical isolation and about breaking out of the past to see the brightness of the day.  After completing college, with a friend Melinda left Canada to teach English in China. After eight months of dissatisfaction, Melinda left her companion and China to spend several months traveling alone in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Laos.  Upon returning to Canada, Melinda found herself at her sister’s in Ft. Nelson. By herself and isolated in foreign cultures, Melinda wandered and watched and longed to fit together the pieces of what seemed like a hard journey to nowhere.  At times fearful, at times lonely, and at times feeling as disconnected from herself as from the foreigners all around her, a desire to return to her musical roots arose.  Song became a passage-way to understanding hard experiences and overwhelming emotions, a way to www.stefanieglasgow.com face challenges, and a way to move forward. In music Melinda found balance and a constant companion.  In song, Melinda found a voice that could heal the wounds of fear and loneliness, confusion, and a sense of being abandoned. Having studied piano classical music throughout her entire childhood, she has now begun to leave a mark on the musical community with a distinct voice and her creative musical arrangements. Once settled in Fort Nelson, BC- Melinda and Bryan Belleau set up a small bare bones recording studio to create the album A Lullaby in the small town of Fort Nelson, British Columbia. The studio, named Good Mourning Music, consisted of a shed in the yard. Together they recorded and mixed her album over the course of a year. Learning to orchestrate and re-create the images Melinda had behind the origin of the songs. A triumph in so many ways, regardless of its success, this CD represents and an entire chapter of human life. Melinda is an alternative Canadian singer-songwriter. Her original music depicts real life stories and she delivers a powerfully emotional performance.
