Has Beans Biography
Has Beans
An eclectic mix of Cajun, Zydeco, Americana, Swamp Blues and songs from The Red Beans and Rice Revue including many original songs as well. Unafraid to color outside of the lines, but keeping a strong dance groove going, Has Beans can deliver a good time!
Playing music that the musicians Danny Kimball (drums), Ward Lormand (accordion), Blake Castille (guitar), Phil Kaelin (bass) and Michael Pollock (fiddle) all grew up playing and listening too, Has Beans inspiration and namesake comes from Red Beans and Rice Revue (including Has Beans Danny Kimball), who were one of the early influences of Cajun music to the youth of South Louisiana in the mid 1970’s.
Dance halls like Jay’s Lounge, Bon Ton Rouler’, Hamilton Club became the foundation for a growing appreciation of local music where Red Beans and Rice Revue often played. The brainchild of front man Ward Lormand was to put together a band that could recreate that dance hall sound of the mid 1970’s. These five former band leaders dig deep into their repertoire and add other influences of File’, Sharecroppers, Swamp Angels and other regional artists to round out the sound.
An improvisational extended solo could happen at any time that can turn a song into something special! Come on out and shake your Ya Ya's loose!
