Lily & Duncan Biography

Duncan and Lily are young products of the "fiddle camp" phenomenon that spanned the west and east coast of the US in the early 2000's, and produced a new generation of Celtic, Old Time, Bluegrass and Pop mash up instrumentalists and singers. They met late one night at one such camp in rural California, already 36 sleepless hours into playing music with other musicians. Upon meeting, they immediately attempted to jam, but only made it midway through the first tune before falling asleep over their fiddles.

Duncan and Lily have come a long way together since the initial embarrassment of their introduction subsided, bonding over their homeschooled fiddle nerd childhoods and writing, playing and singing about life, love, and community. They have delighted audiences from coast to coast and have performed alongside acclaimed musicians including John Doyle, The Duhks, Rushad Eggleston and Bruce Molsky. They promise a fun and thoroughly entertaining show, and sometimes keep playing until everyone has gone home, or at least as long as they can stay awake.

About Lily: "Lily not only gives us this remarkable voice, but adds arrangements that are equally compelling...Is this the new direction of American roots music? If so, it sounds beautiful." -John Hart, New Folk Radio

About Duncan: "A considerable talent...he is as persuasive in a traditional Irish ballad as he is country fiddling or ripping through cascading classical flourishes or atonal double stops." -The Boston Globe

About the music: "Soothing, frenzied, sacred and profane all at once...electrically imagined but acoustically delivered." -Folkworks Magazine
