In celebration of International Yoga Day, Advaya Initiative will host a special event on the evening of the Summer Solstice, celebrating Unity and bringing in the new Season with Yoga, Chanting, Ritual and Meditation.Participants will have the choice to take part in one of two Yoga workshops, where we will connect with the breath and lift our hearts, setting our intentions for a time of growth, positivity and joy. The group will then come together to learn a traditional chant for Unity, sealing personal practice as a community, strengthening resolve and making the resolution for positive change. The evening will close with a group meditation, and traditional masala chai.From the perspective of Yoga, the Summer Solstice celebrates the transition to Dakshinayana, a special time for spiritual practices when according to the Puranas the gods and goddesses are in their celestial sleep. It is also the day when Shiva began spreading the knowledge of yoga to the rest of mankind, becoming Adi Guru, or the first guru or Yoga, and the next full moon will be Guru Poornima.  The evening is open to all, to those new to Yoga as well as advanced practitioners. Participants are encouraged to wear white.
