He sometimes performs alone, sometimes with his trio or quartet. He prefers smaller listening rooms where the audience is close up and the emphasis is on the music. He was voted an Artist of the Year in both 2013 and 2016 by the international house concert network, Concerts In Your Home. He is the only artist to have been honored with this twice. Despite Wates' British background, and underpinning the universality of his music's appeal, Folk and Acoustic Music Exchange has called him "a prime figure in American music". Audiences everywhere respond to Wates' brand of melodic art/folk -- haunting songs that ring true. Here's the buzz on Rupert Wates... Jeremy Aaron Biography

Jeremy Aaron is a singer, storyteller, community organizer, bluesman, poet, guitarist, violinist, and the creator of Greenwich Village Showcase. Warm and real, his music evokes nights around the campfire between old friends. You may come to his shows to hear the earthy folk chords, the living room intimacy, the confessional lyrics. You may leave inspired. His songs tell of Ecuadorian shadows, magic lights, Adirondack evergreens, beggars’ coins, train tracks, and road trips. His music is special, intimate, contemplative, poetic, personal, lyrical, meaningful. His songs are comforting like hot chocolate, wool socks, and your crackling fireplace on a winter’s day.
