About this concert
Tickets: £14 advance / £17 on the doorDoors and bar open @ 7.00pmShow starts @ 7.45pmClive and Liz will perform two sets with an interval. Acclaimed singer-songwriters Clive Gregson and Liz Simcock headline at St. John's Church in Farncombe on Friday 13th October on a tour tied in with the release of their debut Gregson & Simcock album Underwater Dancing. The album features 14 brand new songs from the Gregson pen. On the album Clive and Liz are joined by Mark Griffiths on electric guitar, Andy Seward on bass, Fiona Lander on woodwind and Simon Whitbread on drums. Clive and Liz first toured together in 2015 in a series of shows performing songs from the Gregson & Collister back catalogue. The tour was a resounding success. So much so that Clive and Liz decided to keep the train rolling, play more duo shows and record a CD of brand new Gregson songs. The duo are really looking forward to hitting the road again to play Gregson & Collister classics and brand new soon-to-be favourites alike. From 1985 to 1992 Clive Gregson and Christine Collister were at the very top of the game in acoustic and roots music, Rolling Stone calling them "the state of the art in British folk-rock." They released five albums, played countless shows all over the world before deciding to go their separate ways.Since then, Clive's illustrious and varied career has continued apace. He has toured and recorded with Richard Thompson, Nanci Griffith, Eddi Reader and Boo Hewerdine, Plainsong and Any Trouble, not to mention releasing 13 solo albums. In 2015 Clive asked songwriter and singer Liz Simcock to join him in a UK tour, a chance to revisit some of the songs from Gregson & Collister days. Clive says "playing shows that celebrate a hugely enjoyable part of my musical career was well overdue. It had been a very long time since I performed many of those songs..." Liz was delighted to be asked, saying ... "I've always been a huge fan of Gregson & Collister and couldn't think of anything nicer to be invited to do. They were what got me into writing songs and I think it's a real privilege to be doing this." The tour coincided with the release by Cherry Red of a deluxe edition of Home and Away, the classic Gregson & Collister CD. "I've always been a huge fan of Gregson & Collister says Liz and couldn't think of anything nicer to be invited to do. They were what got me into writing songs and I think it's a real privilege to be doing this."www.gregsonsimcock.com
