The 101 Biography
The 101 are a five-piece indie pop/indie-funk band from the heart of the North East of Scotland. In April of 2017, the band self-released their debut single ‘Not You but Me’ with a follow up self-titled 4 track EP.
The band has since received support, recognition and air-time from the likes of BBC Introducing, STV, Amazing Radio, CamGlen Radio. Accompanying this, the band were featured in Jim Gellatly’s ‘New Music Column’ in The Scottish Sun and have been featured in worldwide Spotify playlists such as ‘Indie all-stars’ ‘Discover Weekly’ and ‘New Indie Mix’.
Taking influence from acts such as Daft Punk, Chic and Two Door Cinema Club the band are hailed for their live performance described as ‘bounding with a pulsing energy’ by WePlugGoodMusic. Having only formed in August of 2016, the band are already familiars to the Scottish live music scene, having headlined and sold out Aberdeen’s most prestigious live music venue, The Lemon Tree. Of the back off the band’s initial success, they have also shared the stage with bands such as Fickle Friends, Fatherson, Nieves, Rebel Westerns, The Little Kicks, Mo Kenny and Best Girl Athlete in a host of venues nation-wide.
The bands up-and-coming reputation continues into late 2017 as they are set to release their new single ‘Cliché’ in November and are following in the footsteps of the likes of Lewis Capaldi, Model Aeroplanes and Be Charlotte as they are invited on the 2017/2018 ‘Hit The Road’ tour in December across Scotland.
The bands ambition, drive and enjoyment of playing and making music sees them hopeful for a great remainder of 2017 and excited for the year ahead.
