Nil Miserans

NIL MISERANS concept was created in the summer of 2014 and was born out of the ashes of several other bands from Bruges/West Flanders, Belgium (Omerta, Rafflesia, Thurisaz, All Above Hate). Determined to explore their musical boundaries, almost instantaneously the 5 members felt the intense grasp of Black and Death metal. That obscure feeling was embraced by all musicians and with the addition of sinister and bombastic samples in their compositions, they found the musical path they were longing for. July 2016 marks the band’s first step into the light and the release of NIL MISERANS’ first self-titled concept album that tells a dark tale of love, jealousy and murder. A quick note about the first album’s concept story: The first tale we want to share with our audience is one of a twisted love triangle linked to Greek mythology and the underworld. The story is about a man and his half-brother, who are both in love with the same woman… An agonizing situation with severe consequences for all involved. One of the brothers was promised to marry the girl and envies the love she has for his half-brother. In fact he despises him so much he kills him and condemns him to the underworld. As the story further unravels the listener is taken on a trip into the underworld: crossing the river Styx, facing the desperate situation he’s in, the fate of his love left behind, the corruption at his trial, a desperate appeal to the furies and ultimately a confrontation with Hades himself. When the god realizes he also shared a similar experience being condemned to the underworld by his brother Zeus, the story has an unexpected twist. The album’s concept story is what makes these compositions come to life and we hope the listener/audience will share that experience with us. Beyond any doubt the artwork completely embraces the concept with the use of live models and enhances the standards for this first release.
